On November 7, 2024 Aaron Herrera Pallares signed his letter of intent as he will continue his education and be a member of the Northeast Alabama Community College men’s soccer team. Collinsville High school is proud to announce that Aaron is the first student from the Dekalb County School system to sign with Northeast Alabama Community College. Aaron is a well rounded student who makes a positive impact on everyone wherever he goes.
After interviewing his coach and some of his teammates we learned just how impactful Aaron is on his school and community. Coach Jeffrey Stanley states, “I would like to personally say how proud I am of Aaron. He has worked hard to obtain a soccer scholarship with Northeast Community College. Aaron has been a part of our soccer program for 5 years. He is the first player from a Dekalb County School to sign with NACC. Aaron is making history. He has developed into an elite player. Last season, he scored 38 goals and had 18 assists. He scored 8 goals against Hokes Bluff last season setting a school record for the most goals in a game. That is an amazing task considering all the great players that we have had come through our soccer program at Collinsville. He has scored some amazing goals throughout his career at CHS. My favorite is when he hit a banger shot against Westminster Oak Mountain during his sophomore season. It was about a 30- or 40-yard banger from the left side and went in the back of the goal. We won that game 2-1. Aaron can play any position on the field, but his bread and butter is center midfielder. He knows how to attack. He is very good at possessing the ball as well. He is very unselfish. He makes everyone else around him better.”
Coach Stanley went on to say, “He is a great leader. He has been a team captain for the past two seasons because of his leadership skills. Aaron is the true definition of a student-athlete. He is an amazing student as well. He displays amazing character on and off the field. He is a great role model for all our young players. Aaron also plays football. He has done amazing with kickoffs, PATS, and field goals. With Northeast starting a soccer program, it will open up many opportunities for players who want to play on the next level. The best part is that it is only 30 minutes away from Collinsville. We have other players who will have the opportunity to sign their letter of intent with NECC, current and future. I am sure that Aaron is very appreciative of all the coaches at Collinsville who helped develop his skills. I know that he would want to mention all of them: Coach Pedro, Coach David, Coach Ryan, Coach Segura, and Coach Miguel. Our goal is to win the state championship this next season. With Aaron and his teammates, we have an excellent chance of doing that if we put in the work.”
Not only did Coach Stanley speak highly of Aaron’s character, but his teammates had a lot to say about him as well. Eddy Ortiz told Panther Press, “Aaron is such a phenomenal player. I have played alongside him for the past three years and each year he gets even better. A player like him is hard to find. Aaron is hard working and passionate for the badge.” Henry Mendez agreed that Aaron is an outstanding player and added that, “Aaron is very understanding and a good captain because he takes the time to listen and he helps you with your mistakes. He also points out the good things other players do in the game and he is always trying to hype up his teammates if they are down, and he does not get mad when errors are made.”
Aaron has made Collinsville High School proud and we look forward to all he will accomplish in the future!
