The Collinsville High School Panthers of Cross Country encountered a new race trail! The dedicated runners walked and explored the new course before their race to familiarize themselves. According to the runners, the trail was confusing so they weren’t completely sure at first where they were going to begin their race, but they did not let this obstacle be a hindrance.
Before the meets, runners will usually get their chip to track them during the race and they’ll lace it on their shoe with a zip tie. They’ll also get their bib numbers and attach it to their jerseys. After each section of racers got prepared for their races, they went to where the course started and waited for the announcer to mark the start of their event. Varsity boys ran first with some impressive 5k times such as 23 minutes and 23 seconds by Luis Felipe Miguel, 23 minutes and 56 second by Juan Francisco and 24 minutes and 18 seconds by Jinen Shukal.
After varsity boys completed the course, the varsity girls ran. One of our varsity girls, Jennifer Coronado, finished in 16th place out of 100 girls, which is just brilliant! Shortly after the girls' exciting race, the JV boys raced. They also had awesome finishes in the race. Some of the impressive times in the 2 mile race from the JV boys were 14 minutes and 35 seconds by Eliseo Pablo, 15 minutes and 32 seconds by Johan Patino, 15 minutes and 47 seconds by Matthew Jiminez, 20 minutes and 12 seconds by Mario Hernandez, and 2 minutes and 30 seconds by Brantley Smith. Last but not least, JV Girls competed and they made sure to make a great impression as well. Three of the JV girls, Brenda Ailon, Melany Velasquez, and Ericka Pascual placed in the top 10. Congratulations to all of the XC members! You have all had an upstanding season and represented Collinsville High School well!
