Recently, students in Mrs. Arnold’s Fashion class had to make a fabric pumpkin before Thanksgiving Break. Unfortunately, things didn’t go as originally planned and so students had to continue working on the project after they returned to school. Luckily for them, they had already finished both the machine and hand sewing portion of the project before leaving.
Before this, students had to choose what they would want their fabric pattern to be. Some chose solid colors while others chose ones with patterns such as batman prints, dog prints, etc. Afterwards, they had to cut their fabric and could choose to do an 8 by 20 inch or 6.5 by 12.5 inch pumpkin. After cutting, there comes sewing and by that we mean machine sewing. Students had to fold their fabric in half and sew the opposite side of the bend. Then came the hand sewing for the bottom of the pumpkin and stuffing. They lastly sewed their top of their pumpkin shut and had the decision of whether to add yarn for extra details.
When they came back from the break, all they had left to finish was to make the stem. Once finished, they had officially completed their fabric pumpkin. Then continued on to make Christmas cookies afterwards. With that said, as Christmas break is now approaching, we hope you are able to have a great day and happy holiday!
