On Wednesday, December 11th, Kylie Marcum found out that she will be marching with the Music city Drum Corps International; she received a contract to march with them during the 2025 season. When interviewing Kylie about the Music City Corps, she told about being in the sixth grade when she saw her first DCI show and that when she knew that she wanted to march with the corps when she got older. In December of her freshman year, she went to audition camp for the blue coats, which are the number one colors in the nation. Unfortunately, she didn't make it at that time, but she was determined and took that experience as an opportunity to learn and improve. The next year that she tried out for Music City she endured four months of callbacks until she finally got a contract. In that time, she went every weekend to what she described as a “military style boot camp” but with music. Her perseverance paid off and she was offered a contract in April. On June 1st, Kylie moved in and began. She had to sleep on gym floors and charter buses until August 4th performing and competing across the United States from Texas to New York. Kylie received an email from Music City a couple of months ago that said that audition registration was open, so she auditioned. She waited patiently and found out she made it! She is overjoyed about getting accepted and being able to be part of The 2025 Music City Marching Season. She told Panther Press, “I am super excited! Despite working 16 hours a day and sleeping in uncomfortable places, it feels like home even though I'm hundreds of miles away. By the end of the season we are all like one big family and I am presented with so many opportunities to do things that I thought would never be possible for me.” It's safe to say that Kylie is very deserving of this opportunity and we wish her nothing but the best!
