On Tuesday, December 10, 2024, Jessica McClendon, the Workforce Development Coordinator at Marshall Medical Centers in Boaz Alabama, paid a visit to Collinsville High School. Her purpose was to inform and inspire students about the various job opportunities available to them within the medical field and the benefits that go along with it. Nursing, clinical, and non-clinical careers are available at Marshall Medical Centers. Benefits include: Health insurance coverage with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama, dental coverage with Ameritas, vision coverage with VSP, as well as low copay when using Marshall Medical Center’s on-site pharmacy.
Jessica McClendon spoke about the benefits of applying for jobs as the facilities are now hiring 17-year-olds to work part-time at Marshall Medical Centers. She included the potential for an hourly rate of $12. In addition, she encouraged students to take advantage of job shadowing programs that would allow them to explore different medical fields and gain valuable experience for up to 12 hours. This is beneficial for those who believe they may have an interest in pursuing a career in the medical field. The presentation received a positive response from all those present. Students found it both informative and inspirational. Many expressed interest in pursuing a career in the medical field and thanked Jessica McClendon for sharing her insights and knowledge with them.
