This month's staff member of the month is Allie Jones, cheer sponsor and 6th grade teacher.
Staff Reporter Liz Guzman sat down with Mrs. Jones to learn more about her.
Why did you pursue this career?
Mrs. Jones: As a young child I’ve always wanted to be a teacher
How long have you been working as a teacher?
Mrs. Jones: This is my 23rd year. When I first started I was in ELA and I traveled to Crossville, Geraldine, Fyffe and Plainview. I did this for half a year.
How would you describe your style of teaching?
Mrs. Jones: I just try to reach all the kids' different levels. I just try to help them get where they need to be.
Have there ever been any challenges that you have conquered?
Mrs. Jones: We have challenges everyday definitely, some challenges would have to be teaching kids how to read, teaching math strategies and now that I teach older kids I stress about ACAP.
What are some things you like to do in your free time?
Mrs. Jones: I love to paint furniture, I love to spend time with my family and walk my dog Ollie.
Are there any tv shows or movie that you like right now?
Mrs. Jones: I watch Friends religiously, I just finished watching Sweet Magnolias and I like to watch any Nicholas Sparks movie.
What kind of music do you enjoy listening to?
Mrs. Jones: Oh I love my 90s music.
