As the school year comes close and as graduation approaches, Nayeli Mata is reflecting on her time as a student-athlete. The dedication and hard work Nayeli has put into both academics and athletics have shaped her into the person she is today. Nayeli is part of various clubs like the Yearbook Committee, FCCLA, Peer Helper, Teens Together, National Beta, Panther Press, the Parliamentarian for FBLA, and Student Council for her class. Academically, she is in the All A’s Honor Roll and a Certified Microsoft Specialist Professional working hard towards her career. She is also part of some college clubs for Northeast Alabama Community College including, Phi Theta Kappa and Sigma Kappa Delta. Athletically, Nayeli earned All-County, All-Area, and All State Soccer Player.
All of the memories at Collinsville have taught her valuable lessons that she will never forget, including leadership and teamwork. Now ready for graduation Nayeli’s future plans include attending Northeast Community College to complete her associates degree in science, then transfer to a four year university to pursue a career in Pharmacy. Nayeli’s advice to the underclassmen is to, “step into every game with confidence and to not let one bad performance define the player you can be”. She is also very grateful for the guidance of Coach Segura and Mrs. Stone. Whether their guidance through sports, academics, or even personal life, both teachers stepped up to be a role model. As she closes her thirteen year chapter at Collinsville High School, she enters her next chapter in life with confidence, knowing that the experiences and lessons she’s gained will guide her through her future goals and challenges.
