Senior Spotlight: Sofia Bustos

Sofia Conde Bustos has had busy and exciting high school years filled with many experiences that have shaped her into who she is. As a dedicated A and B student, she has strived for academic excellence while serving as an officer in FBLA and FCCLA, a Panther Press member, and a participant in FCA and Teens Together. She has found various ways to help her school and community by working in the Nursing home for the past two years.

Athletics have been a major part of Sofia's high school journey, as she played volleyball for five years, soccer for four years, and cheered for three years. While these experiences have taught her valuable lessons like teamwork, perseverance, and sportsmanship, they have inspired her to pursue a career in education. Sofia aspires to attend Northeast Community College to become a ref and transfer to JSU shortly after finishing college to become a volleyball coach and earn a degree in education.

As Sofia prepares to graduate she has mixed feelings of excitement and nostalgia, but is ready and eager for new adventures to come and to pursue her academic goals. However, she will always cherish the memories that she's made at Collinsville High School. The friendships that she has gained, the lessons that she has learned, and the support and guidance she's received have been amazing and invaluable. She is especially grateful for the guidance and love that Mrs. Stone and Mrs. Osborn has shown her throughout the years. They have helped mold her into the person she is today and she expressed deep gratitude to them both.

Sofia’s friends will also testify that she is a good friend to have. While interviewing some of her friends I asked these three questions: What do you think of Sofia? Would you consider her a good friend? What's a trait that you like about her? A close friend stated, “Sophia is a good friend who you would want by your side. She cares a lot for others and is very passionate about everything that she does. She is always there whenever you need her.” Her other friends Lydia and Shyanne mentioned that Sofia always looks out for others and will be honest with her peers. She will tell you what you need to hear even if you don't always want to hear it.  As she steps into the next chapter of her life, she is confident that the experiences and lessons she has learned throughout her time at Collinsville High School will help her solve future challenges and achieve the dreams she so desires.
